Class 29 Home Baking
Information: Betty MacDonald (822-5769)
Exhibits must be in by 5:00 PM sharp Friday. Late entries will not be judged. Please do not present HOT Baking. HOT Baking will not be judged. Entries must be on paper plates and in plastic bags. Cakes are to be removed from pans.
Fruit Cake entries to be on stiff board. Pies: use new disposable aluminum plates, tempered at 425° for 15 minutes before using .
When there is no competition in a class, a prize is not necessarily awarded. Any organization may compete in any 6 Sections in Baking, Class 29, Specials included.
RETAINED:
Any prize winning article that is to be Retained will be kept by the person giving the prize money.

Country Fair Baking Contests
All entries must have used the sponsor's product, and must be exhibited with a product label as proof of purchase
. Entries will be judged on appearance, taste, texture and creativity of recipe and presentation. Contestants must submit recipe, and proof of purchase with their entry, and must sign release form to be sent to Country Fair Baking Contests to receive their prize.Please note that all Country Fair Baking Contest winners will be required to submit their recipe and the label or package wrapping, to have a photo taken at the fair with their winning entry, and to sign a release to be sent to the company giving permission to the sponsors for use of the winner's name, recipe and/or photograph in any other advertising or publicity without payment.

To qualify for this contest, entries must have used Certo, and must be exhibited with a product label as proof of purchase. Entries will be judged on appearance, taste, texture and creativity. Contestants must submit recipe and proof of purchase. Certo winners will be chosen from the 1st prize winners from classes 1 through 9.

The following 3 awards will be chosen from all qualifying canning entries.
Bernardin Adult Home Canner Best of Show :
Qualifiers must have 3 home canning entries in fair. Must have entered in Sections Canning, Jams & Jellies, and Pickles Winner is fair's "best home canner" based on highest accumulated points or judges choice of Best Over-all-Home Canning entry selected from among qualifiers.
1st Bernardin Best of Show Prize, 2nd Bernardin Gift PrizeBernardin Youth Home Canner Best of Show :
Judges choice of Best Over-all-Home Canning entry submitted by a contestant 18 years of age or under. Must have entered in Sections Canning, Jams & Jellies, and Pickles. Please note on tag if you qualify for this prize. There must be a minimum of 5 junior contestants for this contest to apply.

1st Bernardin Gift PrizeBernardin Gift Basket Award
Must include at least 3 filled mason jars sealed with Bernardin SNAP or Bernardin Collection Elite SNAP lids and be submitted in an appropriate container, not necessarily a basket. Maximum cost - container and components - not to exceed $20. Entry must be decorated for any theme (holiday, get well, etc.) And may include appropriate additional items such as soap, candles, candy, soup mixes, etc. Judges select winner based on creativity, quality of home canned product, perceived value and appropriateness of presentation. A photo of the winning entry will be sent to Bernardin to enter for the Bernardin National Gift Basket Contest.

To be judged - 25% presentation, 15% General Appearance, 15% internal appearance, 45% Flavour. Winner will be asked to repeat recipe and packaging for presentation at the District 7 Competition in November 2004 and if a winner there, to repeat again in February 2005 at the Provincial level.
